Our Practice
At MechanoTherapy, you’ll find that we are just as passionate about your pursuits as you are. We combine our love for helping people with our enthusiasm for science, to provide you the most effective treatment plan possible.
We have designed the flow of our patient’s experience using the framework proposed by the internationally recognized expert in physical therapy, Louis Gifford.
Patients generally want to know at least four things.
1) “What’s wrong with me?”
Our Doctors of Physical Therapy will provide a thorough assessment of your condition based on a detailed discussion and physical examination. This assessment will include your potential medical diagnosis and an explanation as to why you are experiencing your symptoms.
2) “How long will it take?”
If you are dealing with an injury or persistent pain, activity levels, existing medical conditions, sleep quality/quantity, nutritional factors, stress, and many other things affect the rate at which tissues heal from injury. That is why we your entire appointment will be spent with a Doctor of Physical Therapy at MechanoTherapy. This will allow us to more thoroughly understand your condition and, in the process, offer our most honest prognosis.
3) “What can I (the patient) do for it?”
Your therapist will provide detailed instruction on how you can accelerate the healing process. Most importantly, we will prescribe a specific exercise program that is individualized to your condition and goals. The program may emphasize mobility, strength or both, depending on your needs. In addition, your therapist will have a conversation with you about other contextual factors you can modify to help you achieve your goals. This may include advice on environmental modifications, ergonomics, postural advice, ways to improve sleep, adjusting your training load, etc.
4) “What can you (the physical therapist) do for it?”
Our physical therapists have advanced training in manual therapy techniques such as spinal manipulation, joint mobilization, and soft tissue mobilization, all of which can help you move with less pain. Our physical therapists are Board Certified Specialists in Orthopedic Physical Therapy and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists, so you can rest assured that you’ll be receiving very high-quality exercise prescription. You can also expect your therapist to explain why you’re having pain, as understanding the mechanisms behind pain are crucial for healing.
