Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

Did you know that twenty-eight to eighty percent of female athletes experience stress urinary incontinence (leakage) that varies by sport? These symptoms can occur during a wide range of activities, from standing up after sitting to only happening at incredibly high intensities. Did you know that physical therapy can help with these issues?

And it’s not only people who have experienced a pregnancy that experience these problems. Many females who have never been pregnant experience incontinence. This can feel uncomfortable and embarrassing but learning to manage intra-abdominal pressure can be beneficial! Seeing a physical therapist can help determine if these symptoms are due to low tone, or high tone, in the pelvic floor.

We also know that women who develop incontinence during pregnancy tend to have a lower pre-pregnancy strength. This is where we come in. We can help you with a strength program or activity modifications pre, during, and post-pregnancy to help manage these symptoms and return to all the activities you enjoy.

At MechanoTherapy we offer pelvic floor physical therapy to help with pelvic floor dysfunction with or without pregnancy, management of pelvic girdle pain, and modifications of exercises to stay/start being active throughout this time in your life. Our physical therapist, Annalise DuSell, has additional training in this type of physical therapy and is accepting new patients at this time. Call our office at 503-567-5771 to schedule your appointment today!
